The role of grassroots sports
for the sustainable development of the community

General Overview

According to the High Level Group (HLG) on Grassroots Sport set up by the European Commission the Grassroots Sport is defined as: Grassroots sport is physical leisure activity, organised and non-organised, practised regularly at non-professional level for health, educational or social purposes.

The grassroots sports have beneficial impact on different sectors, such as: health; s
ocial inclusion and societal benefits; education, skills, informal learning and personal development; volunteering and economic dimension.
